It most likely won't be until 2021 before the city of Madison and Madison County demolish the northern part of North Main Street and replace it with fresh asphalt.
Work schedules, project costs and other relative topics were discussed at the beginning of March, the Norfolk Daily News reports. The project was discussed in detail by the Madison County Board of Commissioners and the administrators who lead the city.
Dick Johnson, the Madison County road superintendent, said there have been many discussions on the topic between the two municipalities' attorneys.
“The best they can come up with is the city owns the west half of the road and the county owns the east half, which I don’t agree with, but you have to listen to your attorneys,” Johnson told Norfolk Daily News.
It is estimated the costs to the city will be $620,000 and the county's costs would be $615,000.
