Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, has been vocal on social media regarding various political and local issues. Her recent tweets address topics ranging from immigration to infrastructure development.
On June 7, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks criticized the Democratic Party's stance on immigration, stating "Democrats fought tooth and nail for a man who made over 100 trips smuggling MS-13 terrorists and trafficking women and children across our country."
Later that day, she expressed satisfaction with the progress of a long-awaited infrastructure project in Oskaloosa. She tweeted "The Southeast Connector is finally moving forward in Oskaloosa after 40 years of planning. I am proud to have worked alongside city and county (Mahaska) officials, local businesses, and the state to help advance this project. It is a transformational investment for Southeast."
On June 8, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks commented on former President Trump's legislative proposal concerning border security. She noted "President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill hires 10,000 more ICE agents to defend our country and gives them the tools to take on the cartels, stop drug trafficking, and keep our border secure." She urged the Senate to pass this legislation.
Mariannette Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. Prior to her congressional role, she was an Iowa State Senator from 2019 to 2021.
