Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa's 1st district since 2021, has recently expressed her concerns and initiatives through a series of tweets. Miller-Meeks has served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021 before taking her current position.

On June 2, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks addressed a violent incident in Boulder involving peaceful marchers advocating for the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas. She described the attack as "heartbreaking" and extended her prayers to the victims and their families. In her tweet, she emphasized that such events "cannot keep happening" and urged Congress to take "real action" to address the nationwide rise in violence ("The violent attack in Boulder on peaceful marchers calling for the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas is heartbreaking.").

Later that day, Rep. Miller-Meeks announced her plan to introduce legislation aimed at establishing a national commission to study antisemitism's rise in the United States. She highlighted the need for addressing this issue with "facts, action, and bipartisan resolve," urging collective efforts against this crisis ("I’m proud to announce I’m introducing a bill to establish a national commission to study the rise of antisemitism in the U.S.").

On June 3, 2025, she tweeted about legislative actions taken by House Republicans to prevent a significant tax increase affecting Iowa families. The proposed "One Big, Beautiful Bill" aims to stop a potential 25% tax hike while enhancing the child tax credit, ensuring that families retain more of their earnings ("Iowa’s families were facing a devastating 25% tax increase if we didn’t act.").

Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a BSN degree.
