Miller-Meeks shares updates on summer reading challenge and economic policy

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, shared a series of updates on social media regarding educational initiatives and economic policies. Her posts highlighted opportunities for students and discussed recent changes in economic indicators and legislative efforts.

On June 1, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks addressed Iowa's K-8 students by announcing that the "@SLOTUS Summer Reading Challenge is live". She reminded participants that the deadline to complete the challenge is September 5.

The following day, June 2, she reflected on her experience as a former small business owner, emphasizing the impact of tax legislation. In her post, she stated, "I know the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act delivered real relief for hardworking Iowans." She expressed her commitment to extending these tax cuts to benefit Iowa's small businesses.

Later that day, Rep. Miller-Meeks commented on a significant drop in egg prices since President Biden took office. She noted that "Egg prices down 61% since @POTUS took office!"

Mariannette Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021 and graduated from Texas Christian University with a BSN in 1976.
