Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, recently expressed her views on economic policies affecting small businesses and workers in Iowa through a series of tweets. The tweets highlight her commitment to tax reforms aimed at fostering business growth and ensuring fair compensation for hard work.

On May 21, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks shared her perspective on tax policy for small businesses, stating "As a former small business owner myself, I know Iowa small businesses don’t need higher taxes, they need breathing room to grow. That’s why I’m fighting to make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and expand the 199A deduction to reward hard work and investment."

Later that day, she met with Bryan Bross of Klingner & Associates from Burlington. She detailed their conversation in another tweet posted on May 21, 2025: "Great meeting with my constituent from Burlington, Bryan Bross of Klingner & Associates. We discussed my efforts to support Iowa small businesses and why extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is critical to protecting jobs and growing our economy."

In another tweet from May 21, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks addressed taxation issues concerning overtime pay: "No tax on TIPS. No tax on OVERTIME. Hardworking Iowans shouldn’t be punished for putting in extra hours. I’m fighting to let workers keep what they earn."

Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire. She has served as a U.S. Congress member since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021 after serving in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021.
