Miller-Meeks discusses law enforcement efforts and honors military service

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, shared insights on her recent activities and commitments through social media posts.

On May 17, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed her appreciation for attending the “Meet the Cabinet” series event with FBI Director Kash Patel. She noted their discussion focused on "the FBI’s work to restore law and order after years of chaos under Biden, including efforts to secure the border and crack down on violent crime."

Later that day, she commemorated Armed Forces Day by honoring military personnel. In her post, she stated "Today on Armed Forces Day, we honor the brave men and women in uniform who defend our freedom with courage and sacrifice." As a veteran herself, having served 24 years in the Army, she emphasized her ongoing commitment to supporting those in service.

On May 18, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks shared her participation at a significant event at the Vatican alongside Speaker Johnson. She expressed pride in representing both Iowa and the U.S. Congress as a Catholic at this historic occasion by stating "As a Catholic, I am honored to represent US Congress and Iowa at the Vatican."

Mariannette Miller-Meeks has had an extensive career in public service; prior to serving in Congress from Iowa's 1st District since 2021 after replacing Dave Loebsack, she was part of the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Born in Herlong, California in 1955 and currently residing in Le Claire, she holds a BSN degree from Texas Christian University.
