Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st district, shared her perspectives on ongoing discussions related to Medicaid and regulatory updates for organ procurement organizations via a series of tweets.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks tweeted at 17:05:20 UTC, expressing her frustration with prolonged debates over Medicaid by stating, "We are now going on hour 21 of Democrats arguing in favor of more waste, fraud and abuse in Medicaid."

Shortly after, she reiterated her stance on the same issue at 18:29:59 UTC, tweeting again about the length of the debate: "We are now on hour 22 of Democrats arguing in favor of more waste, fraud and abuse in Medicaid."

In a different context, at 18:36:17 UTC the same day, Rep. Miller-Meeks highlighted a productive meeting with the Iowa Donor Network. She noted their discussion focused on updating CMS regulations for organ procurement organizations to provide clear and consistent guidance. According to her tweet, "Great meeting with the Iowa Donor Network to discuss updating CMS regulations so organ procurement organizations get clear, consistent guidance. Streamlining these rules will help save lives and ensure every gift of life counts."

Mariannette Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. She previously represented Iowa’s 1st District as a state senator from 2019 to 2021 and was born in Herlong, California in 1955.
