Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st district, has shared a series of updates via her social media account. These posts reflect her recent legislative activities and participation in national events.

On May 8, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks announced that the House had passed H.R. 276 to rename the Gulf as the Gulf of America. She stated, "The House just passed H.R. 276 to officially rename the Gulf as the Gulf of America. No nation has invested more in securing, protecting, and powering this region than the United States. This name reflects the truth: the Gulf is American, and it helps drives our energy future."

Later that day, at 15:10 UTC, she posted about an upcoming event at the White House with First Lady Jill Biden (@FLOTUS), saying "About to join @FLOTUS at the White House for a special Military Mom celebration—but first, here’s your Weekly Wrap from Washington DC!" This post highlighted her engagement with military families and provided insights into her weekly activities in Washington D.C.

In another update on May 8 at 16:52 UTC, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed her honor in attending a White House event celebrating Military Moms alongside President Joe Biden (@POTUS) and First Lady Jill Biden (@FLOTUS). She remarked on its significance to her as an Army veteran during WWII Victory Day: "It was a tremendous honor to join @POTUS and @FLOTUS at the White House to celebrate Military Moms—especially meaningful to me as an Army veteran on WWII Victory Day, as we honor the strength and sacrifice of those who serve and those who raise them."

Miller-Meeks has been serving in Congress since replacing Dave Loebsack in 2021. Prior to her current role, she served in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021.
