Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st District, recently shared a series of thoughts on her official social media platform. Her communications touched on important national and global issues, as well as personal reflections relevant to her constituents.

On April 18, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks posted a message reflecting on Good Friday. She wrote, "On this Good Friday, we reflect on the ultimate sacrifice, the profoundness of forgiveness and the hope it brings to our lives. May we all find strength in this day of remembrance and carry its lessons with us."

Later that day, she addressed the origins of the COVID-19 virus. In her post, she stated, "As a former Iowa Public Health Director and doctor, I served on @COVIDSelect for 4 years. After years of hearings—including with Dr. Fauci—it’s clear: COVID likely originated from a lab leak in Wuhan, presumably unintentional. Dr. Fauci & Dr. Collins of the NIH, the WHO, and the [link]".

On April 19, Miller-Meeks discussed economic issues during her meeting with the Iowa Business Council. She remarked, "It was great speaking with the Iowa Business Council about some of the issues that matter most to Iowans and businesses—reauthorizing Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, lowering healthcare and energy costs, and boosting our economy to create more opportunities for everyone in our state."

Rep. Miller-Meeks has served in Congress since 2021, following her tenure in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. A native Californian born in 1955, she currently resides in Le Claire, Iowa, and holds a nursing degree from Texas Christian University.
