On April 8, 2025, Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 1st district, expressed her opinions on various topics through her social media platform. Miller-Meeks, who has been in Congress since 2021, initially entered politics by serving in the Iowa Senate from 2019 to 2021. Originally from Herlong, California, the 67-year-old congresswoman now resides in Le Claire, with a background in nursing from Texas Christian University.

In a statement made on April 8, 2025, Miller-Meeks advocated for stricter immigration policies, tweeting, "If you enter this country illegally or are a supporter of terrorist organizations, you should be deported or have your Green Card revoked. This shouldn't be that controversial."

Later the same day, the congresswoman announced the introduction of H.R. 2690, emphasizing her focus on workforce development. She stated, "I’m proud to introduce H.R. 2690, the Improve Employer-Directed Skills Act—cutting red tape so Iowans can get trained faster for in-demand jobs. With employers leading the way, more people can gain real skills, good paychecks, and new opportunities."

Lastly, Miller-Meeks highlighted a visit by the Iowa Beer Wholesalers to Washington, D.C. on April 8, 2025, expressing support for economic measures in a post stating, "Great to see Iowa Beer Wholesalers in DC advocating for reauthorization of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to continue powering our local economy @NBWA "
