Miller-Meeks advocates bills on energy production and fentanyl crisis

Rep. On February 7, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks announced the passage of the Protecting American Energy Production Act by the House. She expressed her support for this bill, stating it is "critical" in driving down energy costs and strengthening American energy independence. "The House just passed the Protecting American Energy Production Act! Proud to support this critical bill that will drive down energy costs and strengthen American energy independence for Iowans and all Americans."

Later that day, she addressed the fentanyl crisis affecting Americans aged 18-45. In a tweet posted at 18:20 UTC on February 7, Rep. Miller-Meeks highlighted the alarming statistic of over 100,000 lives lost annually due to fentanyl, including many Iowans. She voiced her support for the HALT Fentanyl Act as an essential measure to combat this issue. "Fentanyl is the leading cause of death for Americans 18-45, claiming over 100,000 lives annually, including a record number of Iowans. The HALT Fentanyl Act is a critical step in ending this crisis."

Furthermore, Rep. Miller-Meeks shared her meeting with the widow of Blake Schwarz during that week regarding a bill named after him aimed at improving mental health resources for correctional officers.
