Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa’s 1st district since 2021, shared several significant updates through her Twitter account on January 23, 2025. Her posts covered a range of topics from honoring centenarians to legislative advancements and nominations.

On January 23, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed her admiration for Clara Petersen, a resident of West Branch, Iowa who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. In the post, she highlighted Petersen's contributions during World War II and her dedication to family. She stated: "I had the privilege of honoring Clara Petersen, a remarkable woman from West Branch, Iowa, who recently turned 100, on the House Floor. Her service in WWII and the love she’s shown her family are a true testament to strength and heart."

Later that day, Rep. Miller-Meeks commented on the advancement of Rep. Doug Collins' nomination for VA Secretary by the Senate. She showed support for his nomination by saying: "The Senate has advanced @RepDougCollins’ nomination, and he’s now set to be confirmed as VA Secretary! Doug is an excellent choice."

In another update on January 23rd, she discussed the successful passage of H.R. 471 – the Fix Our Forests Act – in Congress. She noted its importance for wildfire prevention and forest restoration efforts following destructive wildfires in California: "The passage of H.R. 471 – the Fix Our Forests Act – is a major victory for wildfire prevention and forest restoration."
