Men more prevalent than women in Madison County in 2021

Of the 16,414 people living in Madison County, Iowa in 2021, 49.8% (8,167) were women and 50.2% (8,247) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by South DSM News.

Data showed the average age for men in Madison County in 2021 was 41 years, higher than the national average of 40 for men.

According to census data, despite men being more prevalent in Madison County during 2021, women aged 18 and over outnumbered men in the same age group by 50. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 1,362 men and 1,459 women.
