Diana Richardson Receives Quarterly DAISY Award | Pella Regional Health Center

Pella Regional Health Center is proud to announce that Diana Richardson, BSN, in Emergency Department is the recipient. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration these nurses give to their patients.

Excerpt from Diana’s nomination by Mary Lowrey concerning her husband’s care:

“Diana was helping out in the Emergency Department on the day my husband came in for dehydration. Diana usually works in Infusion, so she was very gentle with getting the IV started on her first try with my husband’s dehydrated veins.

Diana was also very proactive to see that he was improving and approached the doctor about adding medicine to the IV for his nausea and pain. Not only did Diana follow the original orders and administered the IV, but she was also proactive in trying to see that my husband’s condition was improving before we left. She was very compassionate and caring. She deserves recognition for helping us that day!”

Richardson received a certificate that reads: "In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people." She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
