Iowa Central Community College recently issued the following announcement.
Iowa Central students in the Diesel Technology, Auto Restoration and Fire Science program received scholarships from the WC Cruisers group this week. Nine students earned the scholarship by volunteering at the organizations annual car show event which is Iowa’s largest car cruise show featuring over 1,300 cars. The students help with parking the cars, some of which date back to 1919. “When our Iowa Central students have an opportunity to volunteer, it’s a win-win. Our students are able to help an organization while gaining experience with communication, responsibility, and teamwork in a real-world setting,” says Cory Beck, Iowa Central instructor and coordinator of the Diesel Tech program.
The students receiving scholarships are (Front row, L-R) David Saenz of Cruz Calle, TX, Ethan Rudolph of Renwick, Adonijah Redlin of Pomeroy, (Back row, L-R) Nick Berry of Sac City, Leo Trebbien of Charles City, Lucas Walsh of Barnum, Kaden Brown of Fort Dodge, and Tristan Cleveland of Jewell. WC Cruisers Car Club board member Rachel Austin (far right) presented the scholarships to the students at the Iowa Central Crimmins Building. “We greatly appreciate our partnership with Iowa Central students for our annual event. We need many helping hands to make it happen, and the students are great to work with,” notes Austin.
