Knoxville Chamber Of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Communication for Destinations Workshop

Pella Opera House

If you work frequently with visitors, this one-day interactive workshop is for you. Using practical tips and techniques, you’ll learn how to wow your guests and communicate more effectively.

This workshop is great for anyone working at museums, attractions, historic sites, business tours, parks and recreation, colleges or universities, or agritourism.

Join us Tuesday, September 28 at the Pella Opera House. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the workshop beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m.

Communication for Destinations will be led by Diane Van Wyngarden, Tourism Specialist for Iowa State University and a nationally certified interpretive guide.

The workshop will cover:

  • Creating dynamic programs
  • Connecting with your audience
  • Polishing presentation skills
Anyone who completes Communication for Destinations has the option to receive professional guide certification. Certification will take place at a later date, so bring your calendar to the workshop for scheduling.

The workshop costs $10 per person and includes a course workbook, workshop activities, lunch, and refreshments. Anyone interested in attending must fill our the attached registration form by September 15.

Communication for Destinations is hosted in conjunction with Visit Pella, Red Rock Area, and the Mahaska Chamber & Development Group. Program partners include Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Central Iowa Tourism, and Travel Iowa.
