Top Five For Small Business: Top Five Most Important Documents in Your Employee Personnel Files on August 25

Pella Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

This Top Five series will feature experts in human resources, marketing, accounting, IT and others. They will introduce five things on certain topic that will help you be successful in your small business.

Hopkins & Huebner, Attorneys Brent Hinders, Hugh Cain, and Eric Updegraff will walk you through the top five most important documents that should be included in your employee personnel files. This presentation will included information about how to complete an I-9 form; employee handbook acceptance; agreement for deduction from wages; job description(s); annual reviews and payroll changes. Plus, a bonus for public employers on job applications.

Hugh Cain is a shareholder attorney at Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. A graduate of the University of Washington School of Law, he has practiced in Iowa’s state and federal courts for over 35 years.

Brent Hinders has been practicing law in Iowa for over a decade. A graduate of Simpson College and Drake University Law School, Brent now practices in the areas of labor, employment, criminal, municipal and government law.

Eric Updegraff has practiced law in Iowa for 15 years. A graduate of Simpson College and the University of Iowa College of Law, Eric primarily practices in employment law, human resources, workers’ compensation, municipal and government law.
