Of the 5,260 people living in Winterset in 2019, 50.8 percent (2,671) were women and 49.2 percent (2,589) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the South DSM News.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by a ratio of 1,544-to-1,402. In the 65 and over age range, there were 622 females and 366 males.
