City of Norwalk issued the following announcement on Nov. 24.
While the holiday season is in full swing, it’s funny to think of disposing of your live Christmas tree.
Although beautiful for the season, eventually you’ll have a giant dried up tree in your house that you want to get rid of. For two weeks only you can have it picked up curbside for the small cost of a Compost It! sticker.
Just remember, the sticker is the only decoration your tree can have. Please make sure all ornaments, lights, and wires have been removed. Wreaths and garlands are not accepted.
If Iowa weather continues to be unpredictable, you might find yourself with leftover yard waste too. During winter collection, in addition to live trees; leaves, lawn clippings, or garden vegetation can also be collected.
For collection, place your tree or yard waste at the curb before 7:00 AM on your regular collection day. Be sure to leave at least three feet between carts and yard waste. Compost It! bags and stickers are available at city hall as well as many area grocers and hardware stores.
