City of Knoxville issued the following announcement on July 24.
Last night, the Knoxville City Council and Marion County Board of Supervisors held a joint meeting to discuss updates about the VA Campus. Updates included information on the archaeology study, marketing of buildings 27 & 28, and the site plan by Confluence.
The archaeology study found nothing of significance. The results have been shared with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), who now has 30 days to comment. If SHPO has no comments after that period, the process will be complete and no further studies will be needed.
Two firms recently attended an open house for buildings 27 & 28 last week. Although neither firm has formally expressed any interest in purchasing the buildings, they have until August 14 to do so.
Confluence, a landscape architecture, planning, and urban design firm, is working to create the site plan. They have met with several individuals and groups to gather input about concepts for the plan. The first design of the concept will be completed in a few weeks.
The next meeting with updates on the VA Campus will be held on August 25.
