Candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Iowa’s Second Congressional District recently participated in an online forum.
The Marion County Tribune reported that the forum was hosted by the Marion County GOP and moderated by Marion County Attorney Ed Bull. They discussed a variety of topics including the candidates views on speaking ill of fellow Republicans as presented in Ronald Reagan’s “11th Commandment,” what committees they would like to serve on, if they believe it matters who the district sends to Washington, D.C. and how they each plan to win the nomination.
The Republican candidates vying for the Second Congressional District seat currently held by retiring Democrat Dave Loebsack are Tim Borchardt, Steven Everly, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Rick Phillips and Bobby Schilling.
They will run against each other in the June primary and then the candidate who secures the GOP nomination will run against Democratic candidate Rita Hart in the November general election.
