Iowa Secretary of State's office will be mailing every registered voter in the state an absentee ballot request for prior to the June 2 primary as a way to encourage citizens to vote before the election and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Secretary of State Paul Pate is encouraging Iowans to vote with absentee ballots as a way to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus, according to the Marion County Tribune. Pate said the forms will be mailed out in mid-to-late April and will include return postage.
“The safety of voters while casting their ballots is our top priority,” Pate told the Marion County Tribune. “The June 2 primary election will go on as scheduled because it’s important for Iowans to make their voices heard by voting. The safest way to vote will be by mail.”
Absentee ballots can be requested by Iowans through May 22, according to the Marion County Tribune.
