Pella Regional Health Center issued the following announcement on Mar. 30.
Pella Regional Health Center is proud to announce that Amanda Yarkosky in the Pella Medical Clinic is a DAISY recipient. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration that these nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Amanda’s nomination:
“My son has been receiving allergy shots for almost three years from Amanda. From our very first visit, she has always welcomed him with a smile and treated him with great compassion and care. Despite his young age, she talks directly to him and listens to his preferences. He always feels heard and respected. She has taken the time to know him and his personal interests. They share special inside jokes and he considers her a friend. Her caring and compassionate demeanor has made him feel comfortable and safe despite receiving shots several times a month. She is a treasure to us!”
Yarkosky received a certificate that reads: "In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people." She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
