Pella Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Apr. 3.
Week 2 of the Pay It Forward Pella program is in the books. Get the drumroll going…we have received over $39,000 in receipts from goods and services purchased by YOU! Thank you, Pella. Our local businesses are working hard to serve our community and we appreciate it. If you need an idea of what to purchase, here’s a list of receipt items turned in this week:
- New tires
- Delicious food
- Birthday treats
- Cupcakes
- Bakery goods
- Easter chocolates
- New shoes
- Pet supplies
- Veterinary care
- Landscaping & Garden supplies
- Honey-do project supplies
- Homeschooling materials
- Ice cream
- New appliances
- Furniture
- Car care
- Gift certificates
- Beauty supplies
- New bikes
- Outdoor recreation items
- Adult beverages
- Coffee
- Grocery store gift certificates to donate
The truth is, we really don’t know. Yesterday Governor Kim Reynolds pushed back school closings to April 30, so until we see things getting back to normal, consider the program is still going on.
The second most asked question is, “What kind of receipts will you honor?”
Clearly, the spirit of the Pay It Forward Pella program is to support our locally owned small businesses who are struggling to keep their lights on and pay their employees while we (their normal shoppers) are asked to stay home. Many are considered non-essential businesses which is why we are rewarding you to buy gift certificates as well. The only items exempt from the Pay It Forward Pella program are gasoline and groceries.
Thank you for shopping local. Thank you for doing your part to pay it forward. You are making a difference.
