CITY OF CHARLES: Public Hearing on proposed maximum property tax levy

Webp property tax 2

City of Charles issued the following announcement on Feb 5.

Public hearing on February 18 for proposed maximum property tax levy

This notice and public hearing is a new requirement by the State of Iowa. The “Max Levy” applies to certain individual levies that the city uses that total up to the overall tax levy. But not all levies are included in this calculation. This notice sets the max amount that will be levied for FY21 beginning in July 1, 2020 for those specific levies only.

As you can see, the  “Max Levy” rate totals $14.04. There are $2.03 of additional levies that go with this, which in the end total $16.07.

So, there will be a public hearing on February 18th at 6pm on the $14.04, and then another public hearing on or about March 2nd at 6pm (TBD) for the complete budget and the anticipated $16.07 levy.  Please see the notice below.
