Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st district, has been vocal on social media about her recent activities and initiatives. She replaced Dave Loebsack in 2021 and has since been active in various legislative and community efforts.

On May 9, 2025, Rep. Miller-Meeks expressed support for President Trump’s initiative to redirect funds from illegal aliens to establish a national center for homeless veterans. She stated, “America’s heroes have been pushed aside for too long. President Trump is fixing that—redirecting funds from illegal aliens to build a national center for homeless veterans. These men and women fought for us. Now we fight for them.”

The following day, on May 10, she shared her participation in the grand opening of the North Scott Community Regional Innovation Center in Eldridge alongside Iowa Lieutenant Governor Cournoyer. In her tweet, she highlighted her role in securing federal funding for the project: “Proud to join @IALtGov Cournoyer for the grand opening of the North Scott Community Regional Innovation Center in Eldridge! I secured $2 million in federal funding to help bring this state-of-the-art facility to life—a major investment in our students, our economy, and Iowa’s”

Later that day, Rep. Miller-Meeks visited Eaton Mission Systems in Davenport, which employs 800 people and specializes in defense manufacturing. Her visit underscored the importance of local industry contributions to military technology: “Had a great visit to Eaton Mission Systems in Davenport, home to 800 good-paying jobs and world-class defense manufacturing. From air refueling equipment to oxygen systems and regulators (I believe used by Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick) to advanced restraints for our military,”

Mariannette Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California, but now resides in Le Claire at age 67. She holds a BSN from Texas Christian University.
