Republican Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, M.D., who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 1st District since 2021, recently voiced her concerns and achievements through her social media posts. Representing her state, she emphasizes issues on immigration, healthcare reform, and parental rights in education.
On April 21, 2025, Miller-Meeks addressed immigration enforcement under the Biden administration, claiming “Over half a million immigrants skipped their court hearings under Biden. That’s what happens when the law isn’t enforced and accountability is thrown out the window.”
The next day, April 22, 2025, she shared her gratitude for being recognized as a “Champion of PBM Reform” by the PBM Accountability Project of Iowa. In her post, she expressed, “Honored to be named a Champion of PBM Reform by the PBM Accountability Project of Iowa. Grateful to accept the award at Medicap Pharmacy in Indianola. I’ll keep fighting to lower drug costs and stand up for patients and Main Street pharmacies.”
Later, on the same day, she reflected on educational reforms, focusing on parental rights in determining educational content. Rep. Miller-Meeks stated, “We passed the 2023 ‘Parents Bill of Rights’ for a reason! Parents have a right to weigh in on what their kids are taught—especially when it comes to radical gender ideology. Parents are the first educators, and undermining their rights undermines the foundation of our society.”
Miller-Meeks was born in Herlong, California, in 1955 and currently resides in Le Claire, Iowa. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976. Her political career began in the Iowa Senate, where she served from 2019 to 2021, before replacing Dave Loebsack in the U.S. Congress.
